marketingseo, no one is saying that there is a perfect president, just that there hasn’t been one worse and dumber than Bush. The damage done to this country is terrible, and we and our children will pay for this for a very long time. I sincerely hope that there will not be one like him ever again.

What a thoughtful, eloquent, and informed post! I am just a little older than you and have lived similar disappointments, though my path has been less inquisitive and more selfish than yours. It is because of people like you that I believe this country will fulfill its great potential once again, in the eyes of its own citizens and in the eyes of the world.

I hope the Obama administration offers you a great job! Hopefully where you can influence the “free and fair” trade policy you endorse.

sure bush made mistakes, and i don’t agree with everything he did. but when your in charged of a nation that is split and neither side can agree on anything. how can you please everyone all the time? Can you name a perfect president? think of Washington or Lincoln do you really think they could get elected today with the views they had back then? in a nation that is so self focused and immoral. i will be interested to see what you are blogging about in 4 years…. don’t forget, despite what the media say’s the democrats have been in control of this nation. they control the house. they are the reason this economy is so bad, and now they have full control. if history repeats it self, like the saying goes. this nation is looking at the worst economic disaster it’s ever faced. cross your fingers, wish upon a star.

Also linking to this story from my blog. Thank you so much for this article. I read it twice and the meat and milk of it put a bittersweet smile on my face. America has been everywhere imaginable, flung violently from one end of it’s foundations to the next, and it seems that, finally, we may be in the right direction.
My respect and pride for Mr. Obama has billowed massively these past few days. Less for his campaign, his speeches, or his policies- but for the basic honor and self-respect with which he carries himself.
The “let them talk all they want… we have good work to do.” attitude that crushes the punditry and seeks accomplishment has been a virtue long lost these American people.

It’s time for the change.

Thanks for posting this. I think I could write, and probably will over break or this summer, a very similar story about what the last 8 years have meant for me. It is always interesting to hear how seemingly external events (9/11, elections) have real personal impacts. Thanks.
